I am in the process of piecing a log cabin and was wondering how does everyone else quilt a log cabin? Do you quilt by hand on every strip or do you have it machine quilted? I will quilt by hand, since I don't have a quilting machine, but just curious as to how anyone else might do theirs.

    Hi Rexie
I made a Courthouse Steps log cabin several years ago. I found it was easier to hand quilt through the middle of each log rather 1/4" from edge. No seams to go through and it looked really nice.

I did Stitch in the ditch on all of mine--of course, that's all I knew back then. Since then I've learned more from this board but it'll take alot more practise to get good at any of that LOL!

I like free motion quilting in swirls and curves to offset all those lines and right angles.

What a great choice that gives mom some flowers on the bed. I'll have to remember that for my next log cabin. Lot more exciting than stitch in the ditch
