What do you mean it's sewn on muslin? Did you actually so the entire block a muslin block? I thought about making one but didn't understand. Thanks

You have some very pretty, vibrant colors, making a striking quilt. I wouldn't try to emphasize the quilting too much, instead let the pattern and colors speak for themselves. I actually think black thread might be very pretty, as long as the thread is not too thick and overpowering. Are you going to quilt it on a DSM or longarm? That might determine the quilting pattern.

Who is it for? Frogs and bugs might be perfect for the nature lover. It's a big big world with "anything is possible".

Love this quilt. I would keep quilting very simple so those wonderful colors stay the focus.

All over spirals or swirls, to offset all the lines. Blend the thread, there's enough going on already. It's lovely!

Thank you all for your input. I think I'm going back to Leah Day and Patsy Thompson and check out their spirals and swirls. Most of you think I need curved movement to offset the straight lines and I think you're right. I'm still undecided on thread color - I'm not sure what you mean by blend the thread - varigated?

For thread selection, if you use a very light-weight thread, it will sink into the quilt and you'll see mostly the quilting pattern, not so much the stitches. I have used Connecting Thread's "EssentialPro", a 70/3 weight (no affiliation, just a fan). I really like this effect.

Most cotton thread is 50/3 (50 weight, 3 ply). "Thicker" thread is often 40/3 and you'll see that sit right on top of the quilt and be a very bold design.

If you use a variegated thread with colours matching your top, you'll have areas of quilting sort of drop out, where the thread colour matches the top.

Love the quilt - very cheery :)

I quilted a similar quilt for a customer. We kept the quilting very simple, just a medium density meander. I believe I used a medium gray thread. I agree that black may be too stark for your quilt. Find a color that won't be too dark on the light fabrics nor too light on the dark fabrics.

    Have fun - it's a beautiful quilt!
