How about one of those magnetic wand tools that extends (in auto parts dept) for picking up pins and such from the floor. These are less than $2 I believe. What a great idea for a gift. Have fun.

Just keep it away from your electronic sewing machine!

How about sticky notes. (or did I miss someone posting that!)

i go to the dollar store and buy those mini ice cube trays..each one has like 30 something little sections i think.. but each one holds one bobbin so they can be filled all at once, instead of just run you run out.. so handy, sitting in my desk drawer.. empty a bobbin, just pull one out and load! so cool.

Ya'll are so helpful and ... make me laugh, too. Chocolate! Oh ... I'd love to, but we both do weight watchers so ... perhaps a teeny tiny piece?

Tomorrow I'll be headed to the store to finish out your list.

    THANKS!

School glue, chocolate, seam ripper, chocolate, chop stick for a stiletto, small hair scrunchies for her bobbins so they don't unravel, chocolate, clothespins for binding, color catcher sheets, thimble, chocolate, mechanical pencil, chocolate..

Oh and did I mention chocolate??

I have an extension wand that has a light and magnet at the end to pick up pins that go under the table. I bought it at Job Lot they also sell them at Sears in the tool dept. I also have a wrist magnet I got at Harbor Freight.

Okay - it's done and I'll give it to her tomorrow. I ended up with:
clothespins - one pulled apart to use as a seam pusher, some of them numbered to hold rows together
    needle threaders
    basting safety pins
    T-pins
new bobbins and one of my diabetic test strip bottles to put the filled ones in
    painters tape
colored chalk and a pencil sharpener with a large hole
    spray starch
pages of tips printed off of this forum
binder clips to hold binding in place

We work together so I have an angel food cake with fruit to share with our lunch buddies.

I could have used all of your ideas, but had to stop somewhere!

Thanks - the QB Queens come through again!
