I have a quilt top that my grandmother pieced in the 1970's of polyester knit. She was in her 80's and it is one of the last quilts she pieced. Upon my mother's death in 1995 it was passed to me for my oldest son. I want to hand quilt this for him but have no idea of what type of thread, batting(if any) and needle(type and size) to use. Has anyone done quilting on poly fabric before?? Any suggestion's would be so appreciated. He dearly loved his great-granny and would be so pleased to get this quilt--

I think a "big stitch" would work on poly knit. You would probably use #8 perle cotton and a between needle size 5 or 6. There is a book about this here:

For batting, I would probably use Hobbs Heirloom 80/20.
