Quilting shows up in app game
I am super amused....there's a free game app I have on my iPad called Sims FreePlay (if you're not familiar with the Sims, you basically create and maintain a neighborhood consisting of households full of people, and you send your little "Sims" on quests and help them skill up in various things...it's a silly little game but I like it) - I just got an update that says the next game upgrade they're putting out will finally include senior citizens and the "skill" that they can level up in is quilting!
I think it's neat that they're adding quilting to the game but the part that cracks me up is that it sounds like it'll only be something senior Sims can do. It makes me laugh that they seem to think you have to have grey hair in order to be a quilter. It seems like a very outdated perception to me. I'm a quilter, and I'm not grey yet!
When it comes out, if it is truly only limited to seniors I'm going to message the company and tell them to stop being so ageist!! Youngsters love quilts too!

I like the sims game too. I find it interesting that a lot of people think quilting is for the 'older' generations. When I show someone a quilt or talk about it all I ever hear is 'my grandmother used to do that'. Sometimes it makes me feel old because I have chosen to do something others consider is an 'old' person's hobby!

Sadly it is what many think. I had some of my coworker say that when i tell them I do it. Isn't that for old ladies they say. I tell them no it is for all ages, and sexes, and many young people even young men quilt. People that don't quilt just have no clue of how popular it has become or how many different types of quilts are out there.Even modern quilting is starting to be more popular and while i don't care for it there sure seemed to be alot of it this year at road2ca this year.
