Quilting Survey

Quilting Survey
I just received a very intensive National Survey of Quilting in America survey form through the mail. It was very lengthy and detailed. A postage paid envelope was included, along with a $1.00 bill - evidently for my time?! Did any of you receive the survey? Do you intend to mail it in?

I received one but am not filling it out.
A few reasons:
*I don't know who they are
*I don't know how they handle the info I would have sent to them
*what benefit is there to me, besides the $1 bill?
*I assume what they want it for is fine tuning marketing, however, I don't really know that either
Guess I am not a gullible player

Quilter's Newsletter has participated in the Quilting in America surveys in the past, so I would guess it is legitimate.
The inclusion of the $1.00 is because return rate studies of surveys show that if a small incentive is provided, there is a greater likelihood of people filling out and returning the survey (regardless of the topic).

I would participate in a survey. I have read the results a couple of times from the last survey (the only thing I usually remember is the $3+ billion quilting industry ) and am always happy to see how large the quilting industry is.
It looks like we lost quite a few quilters (16.38 million quilting households in the U.S. {down 14% from 2006}). I would love for that number to increase instead of decrease.
If seeing the survey results just gets one person thinking about what they are missing out on then it's worth filling out the survey.

These surveys for the quilting industry have been done for many years. The surveys keep manufacturers, merchants, publishing companies, and other industry-connected entities, like the companies who put on the shows, up to date with the customers they serve. I think originally the results were published by Quilters Newsletter Magazine and were fascinating to the 'average' quilter.
This is one unsolicited survey you can probably be confident in completing. If any of the questions seem intrusive, just ignore them.

Nothing sinister about the survey. The major quilting markets use the data to plan future marketing. I answer the questions about quilting truthfully but never return it with my real name if asked for one.
