    how should I have this quilted when done and what color thread should I use?

    It is absolutely gorgeous. But, alas, I have no idea how to quilt, but I bet some of the board longarmers would love to get their hands on it.

    FANTASTIC!! I would use a clear gray thread, so it won't really show, I wouldn't want to distract from the piece work.

    I'd suggest concentric diamonds following the piecing, but don't space them regularly, vary the spacing between them to add visual interest. That should work with the piecing (which is fabulous, and busy enough that you don't want to add an extra pattern) without being boring. It's also very easy!

    You could use a verigated thread and I agree with Lobster with the pattern to quilt.
