    I agree with making sure you use a 16 or 18 needle. I had issues with thread shredding and breaking when moving from east to west, which is not unusual in longarms, so I generally try to minimize that direction of movement.

    On my DSM I quilt with organ #16 needle when the thread breaks and that usually solves the problem. Especially if I have a lot of intersections to cross.
