Can you quilt through Insulbrite? I want to make a quilt as you go Jinny Beyer designed table runner. It is so pretty.....a braid with a pretty center square. I thought I would add insulbrite along with the batting to make it more heat resistant. Has anyone quilted through insulbrite? Would it be too difficult to quilt through batting, insulbrite, backing and top fabric? Thanks for your input.

I always check the manufacturer's site first. Here's what they say under the benefits tab for this product. Note the last 2 lines:
Will Not Separate or Bunch;
Contains No Resins or Glues;
Will Not Shift, Migrate or Beard;
Quilt or Tie Leaving up to 10" Open;
Once Quilted, Machine Wash & Dry;

Had no problem quilting my pot holders.

I made 3 of the iron caddy' s that makes into an ironing board. No problem. It's just like sewing through regular quilting batting.

I don't quilt thru my insulbrite. I just think every hole punched in lets heat thru the product. When I made a table pad for my kitchen island. I made a small quilt using regular batting and an ugly back. Then I added the insulbrite layer, a pretty back and stitched a binding all around it. It washes fine without the stablilizing "quilting".

i've used insul-brite before and noticed tiny silver shavings inside the bobbin area. Didn't like that so really haven't used it much since then, so just clean machine fairly often.

I used it in pot holders and quilted through it without any problems.

I use it in pot holders & hot pads. It quilts fine.

Anytime I sew thru anything that has additional properties, I always start with a new needle. Also, plan on doing a very good cleaning after you are done to make sure any little particles aren't hanging around.
