Video of how she quilts her houses - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IDiejyNPgkg
At about minute 6:30 she shows the collage with the layer of tulle just laid on top.

After watching the video I am so impressed! This is way beyond my abilities and way outside my comfort zone. It is so beautiful that as you meet this challenge I can hardly wait to see you village quilt!

I took her class and made one. If I remember right, you just lay the tulle on the quilt sandwich, pin it in place and do your quilting. One bit of advice: try several different colors of tulle--the color makes a bigger difference than you would expect to the overall look of the quilt.

Yes, I made two which were quickly snapped up by relatives. Her houses are simple shapes, squares, rectangles, half circles. It's amazing how architectural they become when layers on top of each other. I agree with carol45, the color of tulle is important. It can enhance the colors or dull them. If I remember right, she simply stitched down the tulle with the quilting.

Thank you, dillysnana, for reminding me I have Karen's book and always wanted to do one of her village quilts. I just watched several of her youtubes and she seems like so much fun. She makes everything look so easy. LOL
