I always search garage/yard sales, for items to feed my addictions to fabric, sewing, or any antique that calls out to me to save it. I don't think there is a cure for quilting, but if there is I don't want it!! LOL  ;-)

I love yard/garage sales as does my DH and we go out every Saturday morning. Just this season so far I have picked up a White sewing machine for $1.00; a quilting table (drop sides on wheels) with large cutting mat for $20.00; box of fabric for $2.00; large 2 layer sewing basket $3.00 and just recently in Shipshewana IN., I bought a vintage singer sewing machine for $5.00 (was her grandmother’s); 16 assorted stencils at 10 cents apiece; 21 quilting magazines for FREE; another vintage treadle sewing machine in cabinet for $40.00; 2 very large fabric pieces (100% printed Cotton) for $1.00 each; and 12 quilt squares (16”) for $3.00. I cannot wait until tomorrow morning….it is like going on a treasure hunt!

Me either. After seeing what everyone has purchase I have gone to more garage sales this year and have yet to find the wonderful treasures that are found on this website. Guess living in a small town has limitations.

No I don't look at yeard sales & I have found that there is nothing that helps my addiction. I made a New Year's resolution to not buy any fabric until my trip to St. Louis this September. Well I have broken that resolution 7 times!!!

I just found a White treadle in a yard sale for $100 - good price or not? The copyright dates on bobbin cover go up to 1918. Please pm me - I still have a chance to buy it. The machine needs work - new wheel, new belt, lots ot cleaning, cabinet needs to be repaired, new logos. Is it worth it?

Love yard sales, I usually pick up fabrics and some quilting notions. My best buy came from a storage unit sale where I bought a large case-size detergent box stuffed full of fabric for $5. Some of it wasn't cotton, but I passed that along to my sister for purse lining and also made my DGSs a bedspread out of heavier camoflague fabric. Not bad for five bucks!

I also have had to limit my purchases. Last night there were tote boxes for $5 and $10 that I passed up. I have to use what I have.

I still check for auctions, estate sales, goodwill, etc. for the fun of it.
