I use a Go dies for drunkard's path and the waste is about 1/4" around the shape. I have large scrap bin and toss pieces up to half a fat quarter in it. It doesn't bother me to have scraps. The petal quilt is beautiful! And I have a Go die that shape! Thanks for posting the picture.
