There seem to be many organizations that are making quilts for our soldiers/military personnel.

Is there a (more or less) comprehensive listing of these groups?

Are there significant differences between the organizations?

Another great one actually gives quilts to the surviving members of a deceased soldier's family. I have contributed several of these to families of soldiers my daughter has served with. It is called Home of the Brave.

I was just on another thread and learned of this site. I checked it out and was amazed and thrilled at all the projects we can participate in for our troops overseas... http://www.citizensam.org/

I am planning to help with Christmas Stockings this year!

I have been doing longarm quilting on the American Hero quilts. These quilts get sent to Afghanastan to the medical unit there and when the injuried have to be sent to Germany for more medical attention they use the quilts to help keep the soldiers warm while they are being transported in the big cargo planes. The soldiers get to keep their quilts. So far this year I have quilted 84.

First as a mother of one who has served, I want to thank everyone who has reached out to show how much you all care for those you do not know, but appreciate anyway. I have a loving friend, my grown daughters age and her 21 year old son was skilled in Iraq 4 years ago. I did make an American Flag wall hanging with his name etc. on it and then made a very special quilt for his 7 year old little brother. Again due to the physical affirmities that hold me back, I can only donate fabrics, etc. to the several local quilds in my area. But I have been slowing but surely accumulating specific fabrics as I am now getting ready to make my son a special "In Honor of His Duty " to be given to him for Christmas. So, as a mother of one of the best of the best, I can bow to all of you who have shared so much of yourselves for the honor of others. God Bless you all...
