Fiskars' spring-loaded scissors are great for clipping rag quilts. They are sort of bulky and if you have arthritis they are amazingly easy to hold. I can use them for quite a while before my hands begin to hurt. They are short bladed, which helps.

I have the Fiskars Titanium Scissors No. 5. I have just finished my last of 6 rag quilts. One is complete, washed and dried. I am working on the 2nd on,meaning that I have 4 more to go!!! I have used the Fiskars, and it is not the hand doing the cutting that gets tired, it's the other hand because I have to press down on the blade, or it will not cut through the 4 layers (all flannel). Does anyone else have this problem, or am I doing something wrong?

I thought the Fiskars were great until I bought these:
They are worth it if you only make one rag quilt. I can snip a whole quilt in one sitting and never have fatigued hands.

Thank you, thank you! I bought the Fiskars Rag Quilt Scissors with my gift card and they were 40% off! How cool is that. Now, I just need to get started on my quilt

I have a springy set too. Might be Fiscars - they weren't too expensive. I'd say they are a must for anyone with hand or wrist problems.
