Thanks for all the advice. I took the advice and changed the needle. When I changed it, I checked the old needle and felt a burr on the side of it near the point. Everything is working fine now and I am going to make sure I use 90/14 needles. It pays to ask a question. I am a new quilter on my second quilt and learning rapidly. Thanks for the help. Pauline
