? re: Storm at Sea
I have been a long time admirer of the Storm at Sea pattern, and recently discovered I have a pattern for it in 2006 Fons and Porter's Love of Quilting magazine. If I made it, I would like to make it larger than pattern. Have any of you quilters that have made this quilt made it larger than stated and is there a pattern elsewhere or how did you do it? Thanks for any info.

SAS is on my bucket list. I will paper piece it. Here is a good site that has been linked here on the QB several times. Has diagrams of layouts and free download for the PP pattern.

That's always been on my bucket list too. If you look some Storm at sea patterns double the sashing like strips and some don't. Just a different look, I would definitely paper piece also and add more rows and columns to make the size I want.

Mine is waiting to be quilted--queen size. I used 9" blocks (square within a square bordered on 2 sides with the diamond "sashings" and a sq w/in sq corner stone--my best suggestion to you--paper piece it! I didn't and ended up taking it apart 2 times before I got the blocks right.
