    Could be that the popped seams are because the berber is stretchy and the cotton quilt top is not.

    We used to make a lot of blankets with regular fleece on one side and berber on the other. Then run it through the blanket stitch machine. But we can't find a source for berber any more.

    QuiltedSunshine! One of my quilts had a fleece back and the other was a QAYG with flannel backing. Both quilts went to my grandson's children and had been laundered to within an inch of their life. I normally seam with Aurafil 50 w thread. Not sure if I used Bottom Line on either of these two quilts. I need to record more information for times like this. Both of these quilts were FMQ'd by me. Thank you for your reply.

    I think the serpentine stitch is too tight for heavier fabrics. May have a lot of breakage and/or puckering.

    Ellen1: I will not use the serpentine stitch after the quilt top has been sandwiched. I'm thinking of doing it on the top only. Thank you for your reply.
