    I think consistency is important but other than that - do whatever makes you happy and use a style that you think works with the quilt.

    I had that question when I did my first quilt. (I'm still looking for the rule book.)

    I let a couple of lines cross -OOPS- guess what? The quilt is still holding up and nobody knows it was an OOPS!

    Do what makes you happy.
