I have a friend who is a master quilter. She makes the most beautiful art quilts you could imagine. She told me that whenever there is an accident with a quilt, if you treat it as if it were an invitation to explore possibilities, it will turn out better than it ever possibly could without the accident. For instance, her cat clawed a beautiful landscape that was all finished except the binding. She didn't catastrophize. She didn't cry. She just said, "what can I do with this?" She wound up appliqueing something over it, and it looked like she planned the whole quilt around it. She thinks the Master Quilter wanted her to expand her horizons.

This is why they make seam rippers. You will look back at this in a few years and laugh!!!

Thank goodness it was something that was obvious right away!

Of course, I have sabotaged my own quilting..I forget to put my pressure foot down when quilting on heavier material that is up against it anyway!

My daughter took the sissors to one of my projects. She sees sissors and thinks she is suppose to use them on something. Sissors are now kept out of sight and all use is monitored.

I would have had unkind thoughts about the child's upbringing/parentage and behavior.

(This is assuming the boy is "normal" - absolutely no offense is meant with that comment - I do understand/realize that some slack has to be given for some conditions/situations)

And seen no humor whatsoever in his messing with the project.

Someone rec a tiny crochet hook for ripping out stitches. It really helps and won't cut by mistake.
