[QUOTE=vhord620;5424298][QUOTE=vhord620;5422146]I'm trying to create my own, I just used a layer cake of 10" blocks...added off white 2 1/2" squares in opposite corners with black strips to complete the right side and bottom, then added 2 1/2" sashing
not too bad for this old newbie, been quilting less than a year, and I'm having sew much fun! I have 5 more to go for the adult grandkids. All are bright except for one that's a Marblehead in browna and grays.

VERY pretty! You are doing very well for a "newbie". Keep up the wonderful work. When you can see something and recreate it or even improve on it, you know that you are doing well understanding the concepts of quilting.

it is 50" x 60", just gonna be a snuggly lap quilt. My plans are to back it with an Ivory sheet and wrap that around to the front making a 1/2" fold to the front. I use sheeting a lot for my backs if I can find the right color, I love having those left over long strips to use in other quilts and they wash very well.

As much as shadow squares shows off the batiks, I am still looking for a quilt that involves the whole, with some movement. I did find, at someone's suggestion- going to Modabakeshop.com, this quilt. What do you think? http://www.modabakeshop.com/2012/04/...arm-quilt.html It would lop off some of the fabric of the square. I would make the squares 6" instead of the 5" charms. Is is too hard do you think? Thanks for the discussion,
Linda

I would love the pattern too, if you want to share it with me. I, too, have some fabric that I just don't have the heart to cut it up. But I can't just look and smell it forever, can I? I will send my email if the offer still goes.
