Yes you do! It's what makes them happy, he will enjoy it very much!

You can do a lot of things to make it look boyish. Trust your inner calling! :P

Maybe you could find a Thomas panel and start making borders in red and other colors from the panel. Depending on your skill level, this could be a nice opportunity to try new things. He will love it even with mistakes.

How about a 9P with red and blue squares using Thomas fabric as the center block. alternate the squares, red blue red for the first block then blue red blue for the next block and so on. Does that make sense!!

most Thomas prints and panels have red in them. It makes a nice contrast to the blue background that the print is typically on. I think Red & Thomas would make a great quilt!

eta: My mom made this for my nephew a couple of years ago. You can tell what he thinks about it :-). (Though I prefer to say he's grinning about the Curious George stuffed monkey that I gave him, lol)

Oh,yeah! a giant checker board?! I have about 1 and half yard of thomas, I made valances for his room and pillows, and with a store bought quilted thomas I made a head board. I did a knot fleece throw years ago for him... good idea girl!
