Default Red White or White Red

Has anyone made a red and white quilt? I have been looking at patterns for a while. I like a more modern pattern, however many of the patterns are quite traditional. I would even add grey or black for a contrast. Anyone seen one that they think fits the bill?

Google "red and white quilts". Many of us do the Hunter's Star but not exactly "modern".

I have on my list to do a red and white quilt, but I know that red tends to bleed. So, I'd buy a small piece of any red fabric you like and test it for color fastness first. I've seen some gorgeous ones online, and hope you'll post a photo of yours when you are done.

GirlyGirlyForMe ... taking Kitsie's google suggestion a bit further, you might want to google "two colour modern quilts" or similar. You can get some ideas, and if it is in a different colour, you can always alter the colour to red to see if you like it.

    PennyHal ...
Most any colour will bleed! Just as many say, batiks bleed.

I have had red batiks that did NOT bleed!

Yes, test all fabrics before putting into a quilt ....
.... but there is no need to eliminate a bleeder.
A Retayne treatment is often all that is needed to deal with it.

Thank you for your suggestion. I was not having much luck with googling red and white. I will make sure I prewash any reds that I will be using.

If you wash the red before cutting, it probably won't bleed. I wash all my fabric.
I think the "Hunter's Star" would be awesome.

    Good luck.....

Check Amazon. Search for Two color quilts. There are 4 books that come up on the first page, there may be more on other pages.

I saw a blue and white Tree of Life that might look good in R/W, also a Churn Dash R/W. The background was a white with slight red print background, and different red prints on each block.

Please show and tell when done! (I want to make one also. It is on the list, just don't have a pattern in mind yet.)

I have used a variety of red fabrics and have yet found one that bleeds! And easy enough to "set" the color if that worries you.

Hope it's ok to post this link. I have bookmarked the page. I am going to use the quilt in the first photo as inspiration for a quilt in red/white.
