I just wanted to thank the person who posted about using a glue stick to get your seams to match up perfectly. I tried doing this this week and it worked perfectly!!! I was so pleased with the results. It didn't make it any harder for my machine to stitch my pieces and for once my seams are actually lining up like I want them to. I gotta say- this has been a real struggle for me. I've been using it to make a simple Big Stylish Block Quilt and I'll post pics as soon as I am finished piecing the top. I've been wanting for so long to make a quilt with the Star type blocks but have been discouraged because I couldn't even get my straight seams to line up, let alone points, but now that I learned about this I'm gonna try one of the stars asap. So- to wind it up- Thank you Debbieumphress! You've changed my quilting life for the better.

i use them too, fons and porter has a small pointed one out, my friend got it from joanns, with a coupon of course.
she got it home, and had to take it back, it was dried out! but she does love it!
i use the school ones..kinda messy, but i really like it for string quilts, eliminates the need to press every seam down..

Glad people share thier ideas here! they have helped me many times with thier wisdom, tips and tricks!

I used the generic school type. OK- I admit it! I stole my daughter's out of her pencil box.. LOL, I'm not all bad though, cuz I went to Walmart and bought 2 three packs of them and gave her a new stick to make up for it. The other 5 are in my sewing notions drawer.

I do have a question. Is there any issue when washing the quilt when using a glue stick on the seams?

Love those glue sticks I also use them instead of spray to sandwich runners, wallhangings, and other small items!

Can someone post a link to the thread about the glue sticks?
I did a search, but didn't see one by Debbieumphress.

I need all the help I can get.

    Thank you!

Store the extra glue sticks in a sealed plastic so they won't dry out.

    Livenlearn,

Do a search for favorite gadget or notion. You will find it! If I knew how to,I would insert the link.

    Good luck,
