Sunday chat starts at 2 pm, eastern USA time.

we're going to attempt a traditional wedding ring. techniques used will include VERY SIMPLE paper piecing, and joining curved seams. we will start from scratch so i can demonstrate different ways to make the templates and show you how to adapt the pattern to make a solid center instead of one with seams running through it.

the pattern is attached. BEFORE YOU PRINT, make sure to set page scaling to "none", then clicked the "advanced" tab and select "print as image".

    you will need:

backing fabric (one fat quarter is more than enough)
    scraps for the rings
    straight pins
    marking pen
hand needle and thread (in case you decide to baste)
seam ripper (probably won't need it, but it doesn't hurt to have one handy  )

    freezer paper
    thin cardboard or manila folder(s)
sharp scissors for cutting out templates
sewing scissors for cutting the fabric, trimming threads, etc

hope to see you there. :P

oh come on Ruth, I don't care for it either but I vowed to try new things this year, don't make me be there by myself (not liking it but supporting my friend). Let's make her think we like it. Who knows, we may before it's over with! LOL

ruth ... i promise ... this paper piecing will be painless. like string piecing, but with paper instead of foundation fabric. for the rings only.

I have my grandson, so will have to check out the pics and directions after the fact. I'm excited you're doing this Patrice. It takes in two things I've sworn to tackle ASAP...paper piecing and curved seams. Thx, thx, thx.
