I have one of the larger mats, 36 x 60, and put it in the regular bathtub, yes it will bow for the time it's in there, but that doesn't matter because when you pull it out, it's nice and flat once again- they really are flexible mats so don't worry about it bowing in the tub while it's soaking for 15 mins! I did mine and it's great now, lying flat on the table. So go ahead an try your larger mat in the tub, it will work out just fine!
    Kind Regards,
    MaryAnna

well I couldn't get into the sewer for any help so I decided to try sewer's aid!
actually I put mine in the tub (12X18) went to work, came home 5 hrs later and drained, dried, and "played it". you know, hold by each end and bend back and forth fast, made a nice noise and felt pretty flexible. I didn't think to try it before tho! LOL if nothing else it did get the lint off.

I suspect that bowing the mat slightly outward while you wash or brush the surface will help to release tiny fibers that are caught in the cracks made by cutting on it.

Bathtub works for my big mats! Then lay flat on towels to dry.

This is the response I've been waiting for. I'll try my mat over the week end. Tomorrow we get Olivia for the week end while DS and DIL celebrate their birthday.

Not wanting to tie up the tub, so to speak, I laid my mat on a wet towel, topped w/another (very) wet towel. (my mat lies on a Hoosier cupboard in my sewing room, so 'table' is metal. No worries about wet towel on wood surface) Next morning - Voila!! - mat was good as new! :) I was SO excited to see this thread & read about this tip -- it works great! Thanks, BellaBoo for the suggestion!
