Several have suggested I use the bathtub, but though it's long enough, my cutting board would have to curl up at the sides, so the kiddy pool is a better option.
Re getting rid of all the fluff trapped in the cuts, I use sticky tape wrapped round my fingers, and I don't cut W&N on it any more, because that was the real culprit. W&N can be cut at least 4 layers together by ordinary dressmaking sized scissors.

Easiest thing to do is get a cheap vinyl tablecloth, put a wet bathtowel on top of it, the mat on top of that, and another wet bathtowel on top of that. Keeps everything very flat, rehydrates the mat and doesn't leave a mess on your table.

I heard that only the green ones are self healing? I have a large gray one because a friend didnt want it. Yeppy for me. Its really weating out. The lines are dissappearing. I dont have a place to soak it. Maybe I will soak it in my pool which is 86 degrees and see what happens.
