Is there a site that has a list of all the model numbers for the original featherweights?

And to think the originals sold in 1950 (new) for $149. It's like the old VW"S that sell for more now than they did new.

    http://www.singerco.com/support/serial_numbers.html
This is the site you can look up the age of a Featherweight by the serial number. Hope this helps.

Be aware of the replicas. My girlfriend and I both bought one off e-bay from the same distributor. Mine wouldn't sew and hers the motor wouldn't even run. They were advertised as new. We took them to a sewing machine repair and he told us that they had the wrong parts in them and weren't worth repairing. We got our money back from e-bay but I don't think I would trust any of them anymore. I think I'll just save my money up for the real thing. Good lesson learned but it cost me an additional $53.00 to find out it wasn't worth anything. I guess you could say BUYER BEWARE.

Here are the features, which is just another reason to NOT buy one (by the way, the one that is linked to is their floor model and the last one.)

    *************

Beautiful repica of Singer 221 quilter's portable sewing and quilting machine

    Great for quilt piecing

Electric motor, cords and foot control

This replica 221 is now made in China and is not the same as original Singer 221 from 1932 to 1958.
US Warranty: 90 Days labor on defects in materials and workmanship.
Non-US Warranty: 30 days parts and labor

If you read the ad carefully, it does not say it has all metal parts

"Quilters Portable Replica of Original Singer 221 Featherweight All Metal Portable Sewing Quilt Piecing Machine, Straight Stitch, Reverse, Winder, 12Lb"

It says it's a replica of the Original. I think I'd want verification that it was indead, all metal

I'm thinking the serial numbers on the replicas would give the game away - ???
