resizing
I've decided on what pattern I want to use for my next quilt, but the problem is the possible finished sizes - either a throw size or something large enough to fit a king size bed. I want something in between. Can I resize the pattern, and if so, how?

Can you post the design? If it is just made up of blocks, the easiest way is just to add/remove rows and adjust the border(s) until it is the size I want. When I actually want to resize the blocks themselves, I like to use graph paper and draw it out, but if it is an applique design, I would scan and resize the image(s)

You can resize anything - from a pillow cover to table runner to any size quilt. The question is, do you simply make the blocks bigger or do you add rows? Some patterns do not lend themselves to simply adding a row (think of the large stars) without making a half pattern on each side. If you are planning on making each block bigger, play with it on your computer or graph paper and then make a sample block. You may decide you don't care for it in a larger version - or you may love it! The bottom line is that you are making the quilt - you get to make the decisions!!!!

What size do you actually want? The largest size is a full/queen at 99" x 106". The throw size is 56 x 63. Because the pattern is rectangular, you want to keep the size proportionate. You could make the bigger quilt, then cut the top down to the size you want; however, this will alter the pattern somewhat since the white side triangles will become smaller.
Does the pattern have you cut strips of different widths for the different sizes? If so, I would simply adjust the width of the strips somewhere between the throw size and the queen size to get a finished size in-between.
