    I really do like the strong contrast between the black and the white. It makes the colors really pop.

    I'm a fan of white on white or ecru on ecru. I find the white in the picture stark and would like an audition of a softer ecru.

    I think the black competes with the batiks and subdues their beautiful colours . I agree with Annaquilts that a grey would look good. It would also tone down the stark whites as the contrast would not be as great.

    I guess that I am in the minority here, but I find the black/white to be the focus in this pattern. I would use a medium grey rather than the black; the white could be a mottled white so there would not be such a stark contrast detracting from the beautiful colors

    I guess I'm also in the minority I do not like the black and white I think it takes away from the batiks. I actually thought of something more along the line of the aqua and a cream, or some other color that is actually in the batiks.
