I might go over those sections one more time. I made a table runner without binding that specified zigzagging the edges three times. The first time, the stitch length was about 2.0, the second time about 1.5, and the third time it was about 1.0. The stitch width was the same each time. By the time I finished, the edge looked great.

You could go over them again. This is something I have done in the past. From a distance, he looks cute. I'd leave it alone. You could say that he is having a bad hair day.

I wouldn't rip it out either. This happens as you build on a new skill. The recipient knows it was stitched with love and that beats perfection any time! Some things to remember: write down stitch width & length so you'll have uniformity, use your needle down position to turn sharp corners; gentle curves can be handled by slowly turning the fabric. Watch Fons & Porter video, u tube videos on machine appliqué. You're really doing a fine job!! Just stay with it!!
