River Quilt
We will have a new grandson in October named River. I was asked to make a quilt with a river in it. Help!! I am not creative. Can anyone help me with a pattern, fabric ideas, etc. I have tried googling but not much luck. Thanks in advance for any help.

This may not be quite what you want but I have always wanted to make this pattern. It is still far down on my list of 'wanna-make' patterns but maybe someday I'll get to it.

Those two links show great quilts on the theme.
I designed and made one with two colors, but graded on the color theme using mainly fabrics from my stash. Mine was called "Sunshine on Water" but could be adjusted to create a river effect rather than a section of stream which I had visualized. You are welcome to use the idea.
I realize this looks "jittery" in the picture, but it isn't....that's a factor of the grading from one value to the next in color and, to me, adds to the water effect. Up close, in real life, of course, one does not see that dizzying effect!!

Hancock's of Paducah sells the Molokini Bay quilt kit. I see it is currently out of stock. http://www.hancocks-paducah.com/PRE-...uilt-Kit-62x76
I made this quilt and think it would make a darling baby quilt.

I am working on this quilt now and while it's not a river, it has a "waterfall" effect.

Would look really nice in baby fabrics too, I think. The pattern is slightly wrong though (it seems they show the block assembly wrong). I haven't started piecing yet, just cutting the fabrics but I think it should be fixable by just placing them the correct way.

I have heard others mention that the pattern is wrong on this quilt! I love it but am scared to try it now because I'm too new to catch a mistake much less figure a mistake out. LOL. I agree also that done in "river" colors it would be really cute!
