    Lucky girl!! Ironing is NOT my favorite thing to do!! Looks like a real time saver. :mrgreen:

    My mom had one of these when I was a kid. It was called a mangle then.

    Ok, now I know what you are talking about.

    My DH's aunt has one. She sewed all her own clothes, drapes, curtains, etc. and used this for all of the pressing of her fabric.

    Here is my baby. I can see why they call them Mangles. It took some getting used to to get things rolling smoothly.

    My Mom had one- she needed it as my dad always wore those cotton oxford-cloth shirts to work (he was a professor). Easier that ironing on the inside and then the outside, as I was taught, to get the wrinkies out. Ironrite was the brand I think.

    I remember my mother and grandmother using one to iron sheets and pillowcases. too. They called it a "mangle". Not sure where that name came from!

    Maybe the name mangle came from what happened to your fingers when they got in the way?
