I have two Dritz sharpeners and they work great. In my area of the U.S. they run $17.99 each but I use a 50% off coupon at JoAnn's which makes them much more reasonable! I never get nicks in my blades either.

My hubby is a machinist and sharpens all my blades and the neighbors blades. I haven't purchased new blades for years.

I use the Dritz as well, but I have found you can on sharpen them a few times...after the second time the blade just not perform as well...??

Wow, thanks everyone for the tip on Harbor Freight! I have one of the stores a few miles from me, and I am going to check into their blades. What a great tip!

I tried the sharpener and was disappointed. Now use Harbor Freight. I keep a couple of dull blades around for cutting paper etc. Works fine.

I use Harbor Freight blades. I'm lucky, when I'm in FL I live 5 minutes from a Freight Harbor. When I read about the blades on this forum I tried them immediately....then I recommendended them to my quilting group. Now they keep a healthy supply on stock and tell us to spread the word! Why sharpen when for a dollar you can have a new blade! The last time I bought them they were on sale "two in a package for $1.49". Needless to say, I stocked up!

I was going to bring up the topic of rotary blades when I saw this post. It seems after one session of cutting, my blade has a nick or a dull spot. Since I just got it and they're not exactly cheap, I'm not about to go buy another so I make do, cutting over again until the fabric is cut.

But now that I know about Harbor Freight, I'm going to check and see if there are any stores in my area. Thanks for the tip, ladies.

Will be interested to see how you like it. I just bought one too and do not think it sharpens to like new, but good enough for one project. Don't know how many times I'll be able to sharpen each blade.
