Ruffler foot questions
I purchased a ruffler foot. I did not by the Janome brand because I am a tight wad ha ha. I bought the Distinctive brand. I struggled a bit and broke a couple of needles but I did successfully turn 13 yards of fabric into a nice long ruffle. I am happy with the results, however I have some questions. Would it have been easier with a Janome brand ruffling foot? The only way I could get this to work was set it to tuck once for every stitch.. when I tried to change to 6 or 12 things would not work...the thread would be too loose and the ruffles would not stay or the needles would break. I ended up going very slow and stopping several times to be sure that the needle and foot were not coming loose. I would have liked to have this less "ruffly" but I could not accomplish this. Any suggestions for next time I try?

Have you read all the responses to your previous thread on this? Maybe PM one of the members who responded for further help?

I tried a *generic* foot one time for my Viking, did almost $2000 worth of damage to the machine- now I only purchase the feet specific for the machine I am using- saving a few bucks in the beginning was a huge expense in the long arm- along with being without my machine for almost a month- I know some people always buy the off brand feet- but I am (more of a tightwad) I don't want expensive repairs later so I just watch for sales, coupons, promotions to get the feet I need....saves me not only lots of money but also lots of frustration/aggravation.

Yes got a cheap for my brother, works but a lot of hassle, sprung for the real foot wish I would not have wasted my time on cheap foot, so much easier on name brand, from now on any specialized non basic foot I will go brand, basic feet like 1/4 inch, roller, adjustable zipper generic has served me well but expensive feet you really need to spring for the real deal ie. walking, ruffles are worth the extra bucks
