When JoAnn's opened a store here in 1990, we had a full line of mats (mostly the huge white one), rotary cutters and straight rulers. One triangle, I think, so all were definitely in use in August 1990.

My first quilt, in 1985, was done by cardboard shapes and scissors. In the mid 1990's, I purchased my Olfa rotary cutter, cutting mat, and Quilter's Rule. About 40 double/queen quilts later, I’m still using the same cutter, mat, and ruler. Best quilt investment I ever made.

I remember that big white mat. We ended up using it for jigsaw puzzles. The Olfa mats and those now invented are a whole lot better!
