I don't think it requires any borders if it is the right size for your grandson. I would do a red binding though. Nice I Spy, you did a fabulous job and creative choice of pattern!!!

i don't think it needs a border, either. but if you want to enlarge it, i would start with a white border about the size of the white 'stripes' and then a somewhat wider dark border.

I would use squares of the I spy fabric to make a border and sew strips of the I spy fabric for the binding.

Thanks to all who gave me thoughts on my dilemma. I think I'm going to go without the boarders and just do a bright red binding. I wish I had enough of the I spy's left to add to a scrappy binding, but unfortunately I add to my swaps to get it this size. Even though I like the thought of a boarder ( either red or blue) I'm gonna try it without and see what happens. I can try a boarder on the next one ( using all the girly Spy's ) So will post pic when finish ( give me a couple of weeks)

You know the more I read your thoughts. I like it. Almost like a matted frame. I may do this. For some reason I didn't think a solid Border was gonna look right ( and that's where my brain went dead). I said okay then just a binding. But I"m liking the the cream smaller boarder with another brighter one. Oh, thanks so much. Ya'll are the greatest.

I would go for a dark border too.

I agree. The white would "finish" the inside white strips, then a darker border would frame everything. I like the idea of binding it with the same fabric as the darker border, though a border made of pieced strips of the I Spy would be good, too.

I do not think it needs a border, looks really good the way it is.

Personally, I'd bind, no border or sashing.
    It's a great scrap quilt.
