Do hope they replace it for you, does it have a warranty since you only bought it in July? So happy you were there and smelled the smoke and a fire was avoided. Keep us posted as to what takes place, wishing you well.

I'd be freaked out too. It should be covered completely. I bought a Bernina 440 QE 6 months ago or so and after a week the feed dogs got stuck in the down position. Locl dealer talked me through the fix but it was a no-go. Being that is was Friday afternon they didn't want me to be without a machine over the weekend so brought out a new one on his way home from work. Just love this dealer... :-D

Just thought -- perhaps we all should have a back-up mechnical machine in case of computers problems. Think I'll go shopping......

Take a deep breath and enjoy what you can of your day.
    Good luck, Gina in MI
    Update:

Back from the dealer (they were GREAT) and exactly as Gina says above, the motherboard had one component that failed. They took it all apart to show me and it is amazing how tiny the piece is- anyway, they will replace the motherboard within a few days and assure me it will be fine. Also got a nice loaner in the meantime!

I did express concern about the same problem happening again, and was told if there was any problem, the machine would be replaced. So I feel confident in trying the replacement motherboard.

AND, when I mentioned that my old Bernina 1010 wasn't working (reason I bought this machine), they said to bring it in when I come to pick up my machine and he will try to fix it free! It would be great to have a backup machine!

Thank you all for support and suggestions- nice to have friends who understand how important a sewing machine can be!

Oh GREAT!! I am glad you will have it fixed. Sounds to me like you have a great Janome Dealer. Did you get any sleep last night??? I would have worried about it.

OHHHH!!! I am soooo happy for you. when I read what had happened my first thought was the motherboard was bad and was needing to be replaced. (hubby works with computers for work) I am sooo excited that your dealer is such a nice guy. giving you a loaner while you wait to get yours fixed and fixing your bernina for free. that is just wonderful!!! now lets just hope that he does a wonderful job of fixing everything.

That's great. And to get a loaner is very nice. Glad you are getting the results you needed.

Oh No!! So sorry for you. I hate being without my babies even when they go for service. Hoping for a speedy recovery and simple fix. =)
