Definitely Ginghers. They are a little bit more expensive than others but well worth the price.

I too love Ginghers. I've had the same pair for forty years, they're a little heavy but the still work like a champ.

What kind of snips do you use for cutting rag quilts. I just made one and don't have any of those kind of scissors.-J

I have several different brands. For applique, embroidery, large for different duties and rotary. Just this morning, I went to use my Fiskars with the spring action handle and slide closing. There is a nick in the middle (more like a gouge) that wasn't there yesterday and they are also sprung. DH said we had company while I was gone. Company was gone when I got back. Errrrr! I've only had those for 7-8 years. I have scissors from 30 years ago. Going to get another pair. I have a rotary designated for paper only. That is clearly marked with tags. I've already started marking all with tags for their designated use.

Fiskars. They're light weight. I also have a pair of spring loaded Fiskars. They don't work quite as well as I'd hoped. They take more effort to use than I was led to believe.

I have the Gingher for fabric, and Fiskers for paper, but a couple years ago I needed a little pair for cutting out fabric "paper" dolls and I found some made by Olfa. I lllooovvvveeeee them!! They have stayed SO sharp, especially at the tip, which for some reason is always the first to go on my scissors, even my Ginghers. Will be getting more when I find them, just to try them out.

I really like the Karen Kay Buckley scissors. One of the blades is serrated, and the handles are large. She has two sizes for fabric and one for paper. Kai scissors are also very high quality and you can get them serrated or not. I have seen Havel advertised on some of the quilt shows, so signed up for their newsletter, but haven't bought any. Ginghers are supposed to be excellent, and should be, as they are pricy.
