I think just about any pattern can be used. I like the string quilts.

The Double Wedding Ring quilt I did was a scrap quilt. I love scrap quilts that use up all the tiny pieces I've been saving for years.

Take a look at www.maryquilts.com . She has lots of free patterns, some of which are Go friendly, and she does a lot with scrappy strip quilts.

I just finished a scrap quilt using the pattern Ultimate Scrap Quilt. Free pattern for it can be found at www.northhillsquilter.blogspot.com and search for untimate scrap quilt. The blocks are 12 inch and the quilt goes together really fast. The results are wonderful. Merry Christmas

I was really pleased to read that trolleystation made my Ultimate Scrap Quilt. This is the pattern that I designed to use up all the bits and pieces that my guild had accumulated for Community Outreach quilts. We had lots of fabric but nothing to co-ordinate into a quilt. The blocks are actually 24" and only need to be matched in one place and are simple enough for a beginner. The cutting is easy too as you just need 8 1/2" and 4 1/2" strips sub-cut into the necessary sizes. We have put some of the weirdest fabrics together in these quilts and they always look good. Twelve blocks makes a 72" X 96" quilt. Our guild backs them with a sheet and uses Polydown batting. I sent the pattern to Marilyn to post on her blog as she does so many quilts to give away and I thought others might like it too.
