Scrappy Lone Star Color Conundrum

I didn't think I would like a grey background, but it looks great! I agree with another poster who said that the lime green would make a great border.
How fortunate to have found a featherweight machine. You can do all of the maintenance on them yourself.

I love your quilt. I'd love to have all those great fabrics in my scrap bin. Just for fun, I opened your photo in Paint and colored in some different colors to see what different ones would look like. Ironically, I like the color of the floor that you have laid in on. It makes it much more dramatic and modern. Enjoy!

I have a singer 201 that looks just like the one you have. It is a wonderful machine, makes the best straight stitch of any machine I own. It also is good to free motion on because of the extra space under the arm of the machine. With a little practice I think you will love using it for quilting, the only problem I have had with mine is when I go too fast the bobbin has a hard time keeping up. Just slow down a little and it works well. The star quilt is beautiful.

Your star pieces are pretty! Great gray for the background too. For binding, I'd suggest a green or blue, or even scrappy from the fabrics used.
Fun find in the machine! Do post questions, pics, etc. over on the vintage machines thread. Lots of knowledgeable and great folks. Also, www.sew-classic.com has parts, etc. for these machines too. Happy sewing!

I believe what you have is a Singer 15. It's a workhorse of a machine. I have lots of digital manuals that I would be happy to email you. PM me if you want them.
I love your quilt! The dark background makes the colors of the star really shine.

I think the grey is perfect as a neutral setting for this great star.
When you say red binding, are you thinking of the dark pink/ magenta from the center of your star or an actual red?
IMHO, I think a magenta color, like near the star center would be awesome or as a second choice the same grey if you have enough.
Your star is terrific.

The star is beautiful. I really like the gray background.
About the machine.....lucky you!!! You can go to the singer web site and put in the serial number. That will tell you the model of the machine and the year it was made and where it was made. The you can look up an owners manual on line for help running it. I learned to sew on a treadle machine and my mom is still using it. They are real work horses and easy to maintain yourself. You got a real gem!
