I have maybe 150 - 200 misc 4 inch fabric squares. Some are a solid color but most are prints. There are 5 or 6 squares of each fabric. They are all cotton fabric. What type of scrappie quiilt would ou make using these squares?

I had a collection like that and just sewed them all together, then added borders.

My first thought is a disappearing 9 patch. Or add strips to frame them and make a square-in-a-square pattern.

Maybe my math is incorrect. I figure if you have 150 4" squares and sewed them all together, the quilt top would be 105"x175". That's bigger than a king size quilt. What do you want to make of the squares?

Have a look at Bonnie Hunter's site. It is full of scrappy quilt ideas. Sorry not a lover of scrappy so can't give a specific name.

Add a neutral & they would be perfect for a single Irish chain.

I made a 60x60" pattern with 2" finished squares & needed 169. I needed an additional (52) 2" squares in cream and another (52) 2x6" rectangles in cream, plus (12) 10" feature blocks.

You could do 3.5" finished squares and 3.5x10.5" finished rectangles to get a nice large quilt (if my math's right, it would be something like 105" square plus borders).

You can think of it this way too. You have approx. 100 4" squares and 400 2" squares! Add a white and make something like this:

I love the idea of a scrappy irish chain or Patches and pinwheels. That is what I want to do very soon once I finish the two projects I am working on at the moment!

Twister ! I've sewn 5" squares together and cut them using my twister ruler. I've made candle mats, table runner and quilts using 2 1/2" sqs, 8" or 10". I would think you could use any size square.
