Well, of course I NEVER need to rip seams (in my dreams anyway). I have 6. Some I have had for a long time. I use them all, but at my "advanced years" with aches & pains and all, I like the ones with the bigger and easier (for me) to hold. No paticular band, just what ever I can find.

Oops left out the word handle that goes after the bigger and easier to hold.

Where did you buy them so others can see the kind and we can order them online or pickup while shopping at fabric or quilt shops.

If online, post the link to show us your seam ripper you have. Thanks!

This should be a fun thread.
I was thrilled, after doing research, to find the Clover had a finer point and got five star ratings. I told my "friends" I bought one online and was so proud of getting it. They just thot I was nuts! lol, they don't understand the enthusiasm of someone new to sewing!

The absolute best are sold by Lee Valley Tools in Ottawa, Ontario. There are two: a Pro Stitch Picker and a Pro Seam Ripper and both come with spare blades in the same hard case. Not only are they a great gift, but good-looking too.
The set is made by www.chestnuttools.com, I think.
I highly recommend this set of great sewing tools.

i don't have one seam ripper. i know when i use to sew i had several but i cannot find one of them now. i use embroidery scissors now.

when i used seam rippers i use to poke through and cut my fabric along with the threads. that doesn't happen when i use my embroidery scissors so i don't miss the seam rippers.

I found it funny that hubby told me if I slide my seam ripper through the threads it will cut them, I thought I had to "pluck" each one out.

some friends quilters use a mans battery operated razor for nose hairs. I have never tried it but they say it works great on long seams and is inexpensive around $8 at Walmart.

I probably have 3 or 4 but can never find them when needed. But I just purchased a Clover from my LQS. It is a new store that I wanted to check out. It has a sturdy little handle.
