I have never had a stitch regulator on my Gammill Classic, so learned to controll my stitch length by counting. When I started longarming I was told to put music on and stitch to the rythm, but I am so hard of hearing that I can't hear a regular beat - so the counting comes into play and the music stays turned off. It's been almost 12 years now so I don't think I will ever rely on a mechanical stitch regulator to get even stitches. It does take practice and lots of it, but a great satisfaction when you know you have done well. But, oh how I dream of the computerized machine!
