I think our color choices do change over time. I have a lot of muted colors (mostly blues and greens) in my stash from the past, but now I'm drawn to brighter, less grayed colors. I make quilts according to the recipient's taste though. I think manufacturers do have an influence as well as our moods/tastes changing over time.

Green has fascinated me more than any other color, not sure why. Especially the warm greens.
I also gravitate toward certain fabric artists. I have a strong emotional response to Jennifer Paganelli and Denyse Schmidt fabrics. I think they both evoke happy childhood memories for me -- the Paganelli because it recalls favorite book illustrations, and the Denise Schmidt because her fabrics look very 50s to me, and I love anything that evokes that time period (having grown up then). But I also have a strong response to the deep, rich colors of Civil War prints, although I often think that quilts made with them are a little too subdued for my taste. But the fabrics individually are so fascinating.

I have tons of greens, but lately I've been very drawn to turquoise so those boxes will probably be filling up next.

I gravitate toward clear colors, not those muddied with brown or black......my color choices have not changed through the years with two exceptions.....can now understand the beauty in black and can use red if it's an orange/red and in SMALL quantities!.....the colors I gravitate to are not generated by the season or what's popular at the moment.....will never ever make a quilt with orange or purple........funny, my stash tells me I lean more toward greens although I wasn't aware of it.....on occasion I lean toward neutrals for their gentleness and calming effect
