The Seed Packet Quilt
Hi all, after watching Kate's Last Homely House videos on YouTube on her making of the Kaffe Fassett Collective quilt "Seed Packet Quilt" I had to make one too! It is really over the top busy and beautiful.
I am deep into cutting out the larger squares and have some questions for those of you who have made one of these.
1. I am working from a kit and don't think I am going to squeeze out enough 8" blocks...did anyone else find they had to purchase a bit more of one of the fabrics?
2. Layout: the kit is based on a layout with no sashing...has anyone done it differently and have photos to share?\
3. The quilting...since the flowers are the star I am just going to follow the lines of the petals, free hand style. Anyone done that and have photos to share?

I made this!
I bought the kit and had enough fabrics for it. I haven't quilted it yet though. It looks a lot like yours. Isn't The Last Homely House delightful!! I love Kate and her family. Always doing something interesting.
I've been thinking about hand quilting it over the winter months. But that could change.......... my machine quilting isn't that good. I send most of my quilts to a longarmer.
Yours is beautiful!

I just cut the last of the 8" squares and had enough fabric in my kit, whew! The photo is not mine it is the kit shot. But I will post a photo once I get this together. Tomorrow I start cutting out the 4 1/4" squares (111).

found one post that added some black sashing intermittently. I'm glad you had enough fabric!!

OMG, why did you have to post that picture.... Now I love it and have to make one..... That is absolutely gorgeous. Now I'll be on the lookout for Kaffe fabric to build a stash for this quilt. I clicked on the link that shows some variation of the black sashing and I would definitely figure out a pattern with some incorporated. I can't wait to see your finished project. How exciting....
Kate and her series I love, love her gardening series too. I follow her on YouTube. She is just so down to earth.

You have started my creative juices flowing! I will be marinating on this idea all day! Love the Kaffe flowers. In fact I just ordered some Kaffe 2023 fabric with sea shells, which fits into my stash. I can see a fish quilt like this, or seashells...
