This being a new concept for me, does one save ALL selvedge, or just the part with writing/printing on it?
I used to use it to tie up plants that climb in the garden, but with 3rd year of drought, that isn't going to happen.
I've seen member soliciting selvedge, but I need the general rules. Then, I'll pass it along to those that have a use for it, as I collect it. In turn, I'd ask for your prayers for even one nice shower since we haven't had one in 4
    months!
    Thanks! Debbie Stair

Debbie, I am new to this and would love to try my hand at making something with selvages and I think it would be all of the selvage, although, I do see alot with only the words. I understand about the hot weather!! I am so ready for rain!!

I like to leave an 1" of the fabric showing. More or less, it doesn't have to be exact.

Some folks like to have a bit of the fabric visible in addition to the selvage on their creations, some don't.

Here's the mothership for all things selvage related.

I don't make any of the projects but a friend does. I "try" to remember to cut them for her. It doesn't always work. ;-)

I would love to have your selvedges. I usually leave 1/4 to 1/2". I am making a tote, and I would like to make a quilt someday. Let me know and we can do a trade for something. If you are interested I will send you my email address and then we can exchange addresses.
    Thank you,

I'm typically a "trash nut" ! I can't stand stuff in trash cans; however, in my cutting area Idon't always empty that trash immediately since I know it won't smell....when I read about folks making totes, even a sweatshirt jacket, with selvedges...I emptied out my trash and retrieved all my selvedges;now I have a very small selvedge stash ! Don't know if I'll ever use them but I have them!

Got so caught up in selvedges.....I hope and pray that you folks get rain soon. We, here in GA, are about 7"behind whatever the normal is, but we too sincerely need rain. The farmers have suffered the most. Prayers are with you and the others that are desperate for rain.

I have been saving the whole length of the selvedges, even the portions without the words, colors, etc... The width of fabric attached depends on how much of the width that I am needing :D:D:D
