The only quilt related thing I use my serger for is serging the ends of my fabrics before I wash them. That way, I don't pick strings out of the washer and dryer for days. Also, if I see a piece of fabric with serged ends, I know it has already been washed and dried.

I took a class years ago serging a quilt...never made another one. Too hard to keep an accurate 1/4" seam. I have only used my serger to make a denim jacket. Keep thinking maybe I would use it for something else, but it stays in storage, and I keep thinking of selling it. I really don't do a lot of sewing besides quilting. I do know someone who serges the edges of all her fabrics before prewashing, but that seems like a lot of work, and use of thread. I don't prewash, so don't use my serger for that either.
