Default Setting colors in a quilt

I just completed a quilt and I want to make sure the colors do not bleed or fade. What is the best way to go about setting the colors?

in your washing machine use synthropol , or retayne.......they will set the colors but use according to directions on the bottle.

youndo not want to use Retayne on a quilt; it will permanently set any dye bleeds. I like to use Synthrapol in the first wash, as it suspends unset dye particles in the water so they don't stain fabrics. However, it is also essential to use LOTS of water so any dye bleeds are diluted sufficiently.

next time, you can save yourselt a lot of anxiety if you make sure your fabrics are colorfast before you cut them.

I love Color Catchers and they are so inexpensive. I use them in my normal wash. When you live in an apt with no washer/dryer, you have to combined colors with whites.
