once years ago when I was sewing wedding dresses. Hurt like heck!!! No shots, just keep right on sewing. It went all the way through and missed the bone. Made sure I got no blood on the garment!

So sorry for your pain. Did you clean it good with hydrogen peroxide? Need to clean really well, then put antibiotic oint. and bandage on until you see you Doc. Good excuse not to cook or clean, also.HaHa.

nh- That was about the worst version of a sew through that could happen!

I did sew through just the corner of my right pointer finger and fingernail once. Was able to take care of the injury at home and luckily it did not get infected. It does help ease the pain to keep that hand elevated above the level of your heart.

I am now especially nervous about learning to FMQ because of this, even with a Big Foot attached! It seems much more risky than sewing with the presser foot attached and feed dogs moving the fabric instead of your hands.

I also once cut the tip of that same poor finger right off with my rotary cutter. Again I foolishly did not go to a doctor, but took care of the finger at home. Looking back I think 'What kind of a nut does that?!" The amazing thing is that my finger tip grew back to its original shape... which made me feel like a gecko. :P

Oh, that makes me hurt. I hope you get to the dr. today and get good meds.
I got my finger stuck under the needle in my Janome. Hubby couldn't hear me yell. I had to get my own finger out. I don't know why the needle didn't penetrate, but boy am I glad it didn't.
I try to use something to poke the fabric through now. Sometimes I use the seam ripper, long pin, chop stick, thin crochet hook......
    Prayers for speedy recovery. Hugs.

When I first started on this board I was warned about keeping my fingers away from the rotary cutter blade and the needle. So far, so good!

I haven't done that but mom did after many decades of sewing. She said that you are not a true seamstress until you've sewn your finger atleast once. Ithink that I'll skip that though. Hope you heal quickly without infection.

Haven't sewed but have caught mine under the the screw that holds needle in a few times. Mashed the heck out of it & a little blood.

Yes, did that and the needle broke just like yours. Had to go to emergency room to get it out as it was through the end of the bone. Felt so much better when it was out. Had a tetnus shot, antibiotics, and took tylenol for pain.
I was back to normal in a couple of days.

Yes,did that, only I am up to date on my tetenus shot,so I put antibiotic creme and bandaid and I was good.It sure does hurt though.I sat there for a few seconds just looking at it,not believing I did that. Kinda wish I had the 4 cute paramedics to come though, that sounds great.LOL
