Sewing on a cruise
Hubby and I are going on a 15 day cruise to Hawaii booked in a mini suite. He's encouraging me to take my sewing machine. We aren't partiers, drinkers or gamblers. We have 9 total sea days. 4 sea days to Hawaii, 4 days in Hawaii, 5 sea days to Mexico and the next day disembark in LA.
Anyone taken your machine? Any suggestions?

I have not gone on a cruise but when we go to our time-share in Las Vegas for a week I take it my machine. My DH and DD go to the Mountain West Basketball Tournament every year - my friend comes up from Phoenix and we sew for a week. Actually I take my machine whenever we are going to one place for a week or more. (I even took it when I would travel for work.)
Also, it may help keep you away from all the tables of food..... :-)

If it were me, I would have a top to hand quilt and leave the machine at home. That is a lot of moving around, and mine is not light. It is not overly heavy but not feather weight.

I've never been on a cruise but I bring hand work practically everywhere I go. Just recently my sister had eye surgery and I was in the waiting room a long time. It went by so fast!!! She was so worried about the wait but I told her I would be perfectly content, and I was.

I would consider taking my machine if I could safely carry it onboard myself, just be be sure it wasn't tossed around like a piece of luggage. I have a 15 lb Pfaff that's great for classes & workshops. Enjoy your cruise!

I would bring some hand work that I could enjoy doing sitting at the pool. I might also load some good books on my reader. If I was paying to enjoy the cruise, I would want to do that not be cooped up in my room.
